It was so great to return to the Hunter Valley this year, this time with the company of my little family. To say we absolutely loved staying at Cedars Mount View would be an understatement.

LOCATION

Cedars Mount View is located just 2 hours from Sydney CBD in the Hunter’s wine region. It’s nestled in the picturesque surrounds of the Brokenback Range, which was formed by volcanic activity. It’s set amongst nature, far away from the hustle and bustle of surrounding small towns, and yet not too far a drive away from some really spectacular eateries and gourmet businesses.

FOOD

The luxury villa was decked out with the finest selection of breakfast choices, such as muesli, organic eggs, fresh bread, juice, honeys, jams, pancakes and more. One of the best things about Cedars is that it is doesn’t have a restaurant or eatery attached or on the property, which ensures a tranquil, quiet and uninterrupted stay.

HOTEL FACILITIES

We had the pleasure of staying in an incredibly beautiful remote luxury villa, set amongst untouched nature and wildlife; which was so rejuvenating for my wife and I, and extra special for baby Memphis to see and experience. You won’t find a gym, or a business centre; which all adds to the ambience of Cedars as it’s all about rest and rejuvenation. This is somewhere you come to unwind and slow down. Enjoy a walk around the property, taking in the fresh air and beautiful surrounds, and then after the sun goes down you can snuggle cosily inside, in style, in front of the fireplace, with a glass of local wine and nibbles or dinner from the many local businesses.

HOTEL EXPERIENCE

Greeted with fine complementary wine and chocolates, a roaring fireplace and a kitchen stashed with all the necessities from quality producers, the villa was a dreamy home away from home. A scenic twenty minute countryside drive away from ‘civilization’ means you get to experience a blissful quietness and solitude amongst nothing but picturesque Australian flora and fauna. Each window in the villa was strategically placed to highlight the incredible views, with each so perfect they could have been mistaken as paintings. The cosy, ultra stylish interiors and wrap-around decking create a luxury ambience both inside and out, with no fine detail forgotten, including the finest amenities such as Molton Brown toiletries to be used in either their oversize shower or giant spa bath, both overlooking the gorgeous views, yet with the reassurance of total privacy. We must have seen a dozen kangaroos, which was certainly a delight, especially for our son.

STAFF

We absolutely loved our ‘home away from home’ stay at Cedars Mount View. A huge thank you to the lovely Christelle Chardin and the team at Cedars Mount View for looking after my family and I.

The owners and staff are super friendly and lovely. It’s actually really unique in that you won’t actually see any staff at all unless you need something. You really feel like you are on your own here, just with the company of your loved one/s. Yet, if you need anything at all such as extra towels etc, they’re just a quick dial away and your needs will be met speedily.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS

If you live in Sydney and need a little break or getaway, I highly recommend the Hunter Valley, especially to enjoy the beauty of Cedars Mount View for yourselves. Cedars Mount View is absolutely exceptional and a must-stay for anyone visiting the Hunter Valley. The serenity of this magical place will melt away your stress and leave you feeling relaxed, renewed and rejuvenated; just as it did for me. It is literally and figuratively a ‘breath of fresh air’. It is one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed and I plan to return in the near future, this time for even longer, it’s that special.
