During my recent Brisbane trip, I visited a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars that are on the tip of everyone’s tongues at the moment. One golden find was Rogue Bistro.

Rogue Bistro is located in Austin Street, in Newstead, Brisbane, QLD.
DESIGN & LAYOUT
Dark, sultry, rich, ambient, elegant; are just a few words I’d used to describe their new refurbishment. Moody lighting, draping between sleek and stylish black interiors, you’ll feel sexy just entering this place. In the daylight you’ll find it a relaxing and chic atmosphere, come night-time it’s a whole mood in there. I was really impressed by the attention to detail and overall ambience.
STAFF
The wonderful team is headed by a lovely husband and wife duo, Dan & Rach Myers. They opened this sultry hotspot after a decade of working in CBD venues, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with them, to create one brilliant dining destination they could be proud of. During my visit I also had the pleasure of meeting some of their amazing team, namely Biarnca Carseldine & Will Lewis, all who took great care of me for the duration of the evening.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Here you’ll find fine quality, Modern Australian cuisine paired with a magnificent drinks and cocktails menu. It’s also BYO. From the bar I was treated with a delicious Salted Caramel Expresso Martini, featuring expresso, vodka, Kahlua and salted caramel. I rarely have a drink yet this was the perfect location to indulge. The venue also boasts a lovely private dining space and experience for those extra special occasions. Food wise, they have brilliantly created a versatile menu, not only to cater for various dietary requirements and palates (they have an awesome ‘vegan’ and a ‘vego’ menu), but you can also choose a serving style! Yep! You can enjoy a pick-and-choose a la carte style meal, or perhaps you’ll prefer to indulge in ‘The Feast’, featuring all of their mains and sides to be shared between 2-3 people at once. If you’re having trouble deciding, you can opt for what I chose, which is ‘The Faves’. It’s an incredible spread of six of their chosen favourite courses, served individually.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Nothing short of a pleasurable dining experience, embodying everything you’d want in a cool, grown up hotspot. Rogue Bistro is currently offering a ‘Go Rogue From Home’ service, with sumptuous dinners 7 days a week and delicious takeaway brunch on Saturdays on Sundays; the perfect opportunity to taste their mouth-watering menu from the comfort of your home. Getting married or know someone who is? They even have a beautiful sister venue, ‘The Refinery’, for weddings and functions. I look forward to returning during my next visit to Brissy, where I will be sure to have a crack at The Feast, with no doubt another Salted Caramel Expresso Martini to start.
